The Story Behind My Topic Choice
Two years ago I lost my great grandmother due to Alzheimer's. Knowing that there was little we could do for her medically, we hoped for the best. Our family, however, is very stubborn; we kept going to different doctors, praying that someone would be able to slow the progressing disease. My great grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's for eight long and dreadful years. Some days she was okay and knew some things, but then other days she knew no one-not even herself. The final months of her life were the hardest. We spent most of those days sitting in a small hospital room, where we cried, reminisced about the past and said our final good-bye's. It was hard to lose her and know that nothing could be done to save her life. As I go through this project I hope to find answers that may someday save a family from loosing that special loved one.

Hey Michaela. Great Job. I really like this topic. Two of my great grandparents had Alzheimer's. I lost my great grandfather to Alzheimer's. We were really close, and I know how much it hurt to watch him go through that, and how much it hurt when he passed. I think this is a really good topic. You seem really passionate about this, and I think it will take you far. You have great information, and your reason behind your topic choice is really touching. I'm really glad that someone is doing this topic. I think this can really help many people, who are dealing with this in their family, or who have lost loves ones due to Alzheimer's. Great job, and I will definitely be coming back to this when it is done. =)
